Repairing plastics

How does the welding repair work?

In order to repair plastic, the plastic parts have to be molten by the hot welding tip.
The plastics are connected with each other by squezzing the melt together.
There is not much practice necessary to maintain stable repairs.

How do I repair plastics with the welding iron?

Press the torn or brocken plastic pieces exactly to one another.
Tack the plastic by melting the plastic with the hot tip. The position of the parts are fixed now.
You can start to repeat the tacking process with a distance of about 1,5 mm over the whole length of the material.
Use a repair-sticks of the same material to fill the surface or to strenghten the plastic parts with additional new material.

The back side is welded first and then the front side.
We recommend to use a reinforcement grid to strenghten the plastic, if you can only weld form one side .

What do I do after the welding repair?

Clean the welding tip from plastic remains and let the welding iron cool down.

After a sufficent time to cool down, the repaired parts can be worked over.
Smooth overcoming plastic with a weld trimmer, a plane cutter or a sharp knife.
